Jakarta, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan suggests that Electric Power Producers of PLN conduct efficiencies, one of them is with the usage of coal to reduce electricity rate charged to consumers.
He expressed this notion when visiting Steam Coal Electricity Power Generator (PLTU) at Tenayan that is located near Pekanbaru City, Riau on Sunday (18/12).
“If can be more efficient, later the electricity rate can be better. Usual announcements are always rate increase, no rate decrease, many blessing upon them (if could be lower)”,” as said by Jonan.
Currently, PLTU Tenayan uses low calory coal that is 3.800 – 4.700 Kkal.
That coal is supplied by coal mining in South Sumatra and Jambi with yearly consumption of 1 million ton, or equivalent to 1.824 ton per day.
Our suggestion for energy consumption here is 700 gram per Kwh. Find a tool to make cheaper 500 gram per kWh”, as said by Former Director of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia.
Jonan hopes that coal supply to Riau can be guaranteed because the supply is still coming from outside this rich-oil province.
“Hopefully (2 power generators) will all run on March (2017). Coal Supply will be continuously sought without stopping. Previously coal supply only guaranteed for 23 days.” Jonan said.
