Domestic coal production throughout 2022 will reach a high figure, namely 687 million tons. This was recorded by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (Ditjen Minerba) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources). This figure exceeded the previously set target of 663 million tonnes.
“Domestic Coal Utilization Reaches 206 Million Tons, 124.8% of Target”
Domestic coal utilization also reached a high figure throughout 2022, namely 206 million tonnes. This is 124.8% of the utilization target of 165.7 million tonnes.
“No Supply Crisis for Domestic Electricity Needs”
Based on these figures, Director General of Mineral and Coal Ridwan Djamaluddin stated that there was no supply crisis to meet domestic electricity demand. This is evidenced by the PLN’s average HOP (operation days) in 2022 of more than 20 days.
Coal Becomes the Largest Commodity Contributing to State Revenue
Coal is also the commodity that contributes the most to non-tax state revenue (PNBP) in the mineral and coal sub-sector. Coal royalties in 2022 will reach IDR 85.7 trillion. Then, Rp. 4.8 trillion for copper, Rp. 3.8 trillion for gold, Rp. 138.8 billion for silver, Rp. 11.06 trillion for nickel, Rp. 1.14 trillion for tin and other commodities. The total realization of PNBP in the mineral and coal sub-sector in 2022 reached IDR 183.35 trillion or 180% of the target of IDR 101.84 trillion.
“Minerba Sub-Sector PNBP Targeted at IDR 82.4 Trillion in the Next Year”
For the following year, PNBP in the mineral and coal sub-sector is targeted at IDR 82.4 trillion. This figure is lower than the realization in 2022 of IDR 183.35 trillion. However, Ridwan Djamaluddin is optimistic that the planned figure, which is IDR 84.2 trillion, will increase and be no less large than the previous year’s realization.
“The question may arise as to why the target was lowered, this refers more to the government’s technocratic process. This figure has been approved by Banggar, but business dynamics will affect realization. Hopefully the increase we plan to reach IDR 84.2 trillion is no less large than the realization in 2022, ” said the Director General of Mineral and Coal.
